NEW – life cover partial payment

With another industry first, Irish Life is now automatically including life cover partial payments where you take out life cover on Term Life Insurance product. The partial payment is to the value of €5,000 and it covers 5 pregnancy related complications:

  1. Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC)
  2. Ectopic Pregnancy requiring emergency surgery
  3. Hydatidiform Mole
  4. Placental Abruption
  5. Eclampsia

Children’s cover

If you take out life cover, your children, age 0-21, are automatically covered for life cover of €6,000.

If you take out specified illness cover, your children, aged between 30 days and 21 years, are automatically covered for this benefit also: €25,000 or half of your specified illness cover, whichever is lower. Children are also covered for one partial payment of €7,500 or half of your specified illness benefit amount, whichever is lower.

If you take out hospital cash cover, your children, aged between 1 and 21 years, are automatically covered for this benefit for 25% of your hospital cash benefit. This amount increases if they are in hospital for two weeks or more.

Terminal Illness

If you have life cover and are diagnosed as having a terminal illness, Irish Life will pay up to your full life cover benefit straight away.
If you have specified illness cover only, and you are diagnosed with terminal illness, Irish Life will pay the lower of €15,000 or half the specified illness cover straight away.

Accidental death benefit

This is a temporary automatic benefit, available when you take out life cover. Irish Life will pay the death benefit (up to €150,000) if you die as a result of an accident.

It covers from the time Irish Life receive your filled-in application form, until any one of the following happens:

  • Irish Life accept your application;
  • offer special terms;
  • refuse your application;
  • postpone your application;
  • 30 days have passed;

whichever is earlier.

The benefit is subject to a maximum entry age of 55. Once you are accepted for life cover this benefit will stop and regular life cover starts.

Protection flexibility

Flexibility option is available on Life Term, Life Mortgage and Pension Life Insurance plans. This allows you to make significant changes to level or term of your benefits without cancelling your existing plan and taking out a new one. This flexibility option is free. However, because the term and benefits may change the cost could increase or reduce.

Guaranteed Insurability

This benefit is available on Life Term (life or specified illness cover), Pension Life and Mortgage Life Insurance.

A new plan for up to the lower of €125,000 or 50% of the original cover amount can be set up without any information about your health prior to age 55, where you get married, become a registered civil partner, have a child, take out a new or extra mortgage, or get a salary increase.
